One governed set of numbers for the executive team
A warehouse, semantic layer and dashboard suite replacing departmental reports that disagreed with each other.
Client: Public sector agency (anonymised)
- Certified definition per metric, with a named owner
- One
- Monthly reporting pack, previously assembled by hand
- Automated
- Data freshness, with alerts before review meetings
- Monitored
- Security applied by role and territory
- Row-level
Three departments produced monthly reports from three extracts, using three different definitions of the same core metric. Executive meetings spent more time reconciling figures than deciding anything, and every report cost days of analyst time to assemble.
We built orchestrated pipelines into a dimensional warehouse and, crucially, a governed metrics layer where each metric has exactly one certified definition and owner. Dashboards read only from certified datasets; analysts can build their own views on top but cannot silently redefine a metric. Freshness monitoring flags a stale dashboard before a meeting does.
