Offline-first mobile app for field operations teams
A field application that works with no signal at all and synchronises deterministically when connectivity returns.
Client: Infrastructure operator (anonymised)
- Operation, including capture and photo evidence
- Full offline
- Sync with agreed conflict-resolution rules
- Deterministic
- Supervisor visibility, from several days
- Same day
- Evidence attached to every completed job
- Geo-stamped
Field crews worked in areas with no reliable network. Work was recorded on paper and captured back at the office, often days later, with photographs stored separately from the job they documented. Supervisors had no view of progress until the paperwork arrived.
We built a local-first mobile application: jobs, forms and reference data are cached on the device, all capture is written locally first, and a sync engine reconciles with the server when a connection appears. Conflict rules were agreed with operations rather than invented in code — last-write-wins for descriptive fields, server-authoritative for status transitions. Photographs are compressed on device and uploaded with the job they belong to.
